Morocco and Liberia: A Strategic Cooperation to Transfer Agricultural Expertise and Build a Sustainable Agricultural Future
As part of strengthening joint African cooperation, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mr. Ahmed Bouari, received on Thursday, January 30, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Liberia, Mr. Alexander Nuetah, in a meeting that reflects the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries and their commitment to developing the agriculture, water, and forestry sectors through knowledge exchange and technical capacity building.
This meeting provided a valuable opportunity to deepen discussions on prospects for technical cooperation in the agricultural sector. The focus was placed on Morocco’s pioneering experience in developing sustainable agriculture, achieving food security, and investing in modern technologies to address climate change challenges. The discussions specifically addressed ways to transfer Moroccan expertise to Liberia by training professionals and technicians, which would contribute to enhancing agricultural performance and modernizing production mechanisms in this African country.
This meeting reaffirms Morocco’s position as a key player in agricultural development across the continent. Morocco has consistently sought to support its African sister nations by providing technical assistance and sharing best practices in water resource management, agricultural mechanization, and sustainable forestry management.
Morocco’s experience within the framework of the “Green Generation” strategy serves as a successful model from which Liberia can greatly benefit, particularly in integrating youth into the agricultural sector, stimulating agricultural investment, and enhancing production chains through an economically and socially sustainable approach.
The meeting between the two ministers underscored the importance of strengthening South-South cooperation as an effective mechanism for achieving food self-sufficiency and addressing climate and economic challenges threatening the agricultural sector. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to developing concrete cooperation programs, including continuous training, technology transfer, and institutional coordination between the two countries’ agricultural sectors to establish a solid partnership that benefits farmers and investors in both nations.
This meeting represents another step in strengthening Moroccan-Liberian relations, which have seen remarkable progress in recent years, particularly in agriculture. This approach reflects Morocco’s commitment to supporting sustainable development in Africa, in line with the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, which is based on solidarity and fruitful cooperation among African nations.
With this continued momentum, Moroccan-Liberian agricultural cooperation remains a model of integration and constructive partnership, contributing to economic and social development and propelling agricultural prosperity to greater heights.
