Moroccan-French Cooperation to Enhance Conservation and Sustainable Agriculture Amid Climate Change…

On Sunday, February 23, during the International Agricultural Exhibition in Paris, France, a partnership and cooperation agreement was signed between the Moroccan Association for Conservation Agriculture and the French Association for Sustainable Agriculture. This significant step aims to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration in the field of conservation and sustainable agriculture, aligning with the growing environmental challenges.

In a special statement to Al-Moheet Agricultural Magazine, Agricultural Engineer Mohsen Abdelhakim, President of the Moroccan Association for Conservation Agriculture, explained that this agreement responds to the urgent need to adopt more sustainable agricultural practices, especially in light of the climate changes that have directly impacted agricultural systems in both Morocco and France.

He added that cooperation with the French Association for Sustainable Agriculture will open new horizons for exchanging experiences between farmers and researchers from both countries, which will contribute to improving agricultural techniques, enhancing soil conservation, and rationalizing the use of natural resources, with a focus on innovative agricultural solutions that maintain productivity while protecting the environment.

This agreement reflects the Moroccan Association for Conservation Agriculture’s commitment to continue its efforts in serving Moroccan agriculture, as the concept of conservation agriculture has become a strategic option to tackle challenges such as water scarcity and soil degradation, which aligns with the Kingdom’s objectives to strengthen food security and combat the effects of climate change.

The partnership is expected to include training programs, workshops, and field visits between farmers and experts from both countries, enabling the dissemination of best practices in conservation agriculture and boosting scientific and technical research in this field.

This collaboration between the Moroccan and French associations emphasizes the growing importance of sustainable agriculture as a fundamental pillar to ensure the continuity of agricultural production and achieve balanced agricultural development that respects and preserves natural resources for future generations.

It is worth noting that several active partners in this field, including the National Institute for Agricultural Research and ICARDA, are contributing effectively to strengthening cooperation with agricultural associations and farmers. This joint cooperation aims to spread and expand the scope of conservation agriculture, which is one of the essential foundations for achieving sustainable development in the agricultural sector.
