Launch of the Election Process for New Members of the Sugar Crop Producers Association Amid Remarkable Turnout and Ideal Democratic Atmosphere

The process of renewing the offices of the Sugar Crop Producers Association, which began last week, has witnessed strong momentum across various agricultural centers. This comes as part of the election of new members who will take on the responsibility of representing farmers and defending their interests in this vital sector. The process was marked by a large turnout from farmers, who demonstrated a growing awareness of the importance of participating in representative work, along with a sincere desire to contribute to restoring the value of the sugar crop chain and enabling it to reclaim its rightful place within the national agricultural system.

In this context, Agricultural Center No. 225 in Souk El Arbaa El Gharb hosted a new phase of this democratic process today, where the election of the center’s president took place in the presence of a significant number of sugar crop farmers, representatives of local authorities, the Regional Office of Agricultural Investment, as well as staff from the Association’s Directorate.

The election resulted in the unanimous selection of Mr. Askour Hassan as president of the center, reflecting the high level of trust and appreciation he enjoys among producers, thanks to his field experience and constant commitment to following up on farmers’ issues and defending their rights.

These elections took place in an atmosphere of transparency, respect, and a strong sense of responsibility—an indicator of the success of this organizational initiative led by the Association in collaboration with institutional partners. This is part of a participatory approach aimed at strengthening good governance within production chains and enhancing farmers’ involvement in decision-making.

This initiative reflects the Sugar Crop Producers Association’s commitment to continuing its efforts to advance the sector and to value the role of farmers as key partners in building an efficient and sustainable production system, capable of facing climatic and economic challenges and meeting national market needs.
