The Agricultural Development Agency Shares Its Pioneering Expertise in Climate Finance During a High-Level African Workshop in Rabat
As part of Africa’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders in the agricultural sector to adapt to climate change, Morocco’s capital, Rabat, hosted a high-level African workshop on April 10–11, 2025. The workshop, organized by the Initiative for the Adaptation of African Agriculture to Climate Change (AAA), was dedicated to enhancing the capacities of agricultural focal points from African countries in implementing climate-smart projects capable of addressing growing climate-related challenges.
This significant event, which brought together representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture of 15 sister African countries, served as a privileged platform for sharing insights and best practices in the field of sustainable agriculture. It also offered participants a valuable opportunity to strengthen their skills in designing, implementing, and financing innovative, climate-adapted agricultural projects.
In this context, the Agricultural Development Agency (ADA) stood out as a key reference actor. Drawing on its deep expertise in climate finance, ADA took part in the workshop in its capacity as a nationally accredited entity with both the Adaptation Fund and the Green Climate Fund. The agency delivered a comprehensive presentation on its pioneering experience in mobilizing climate finance resources and in preparing, structuring, and submitting funding proposals for agricultural projects aligned with sustainable development priorities.
ADA’s contribution was not limited to theoretical insights—it also showcased concrete examples of successful Moroccan projects that demonstrated how climate finance mechanisms can be leveraged to improve living conditions in rural areas, enhance food security, and strengthen farmers’ capacity to cope with the impacts of climate change.
The agency also expressed its full readiness to support African partners in their accreditation processes with international climate funds and to provide technical assistance in preparing bankable project proposals. This commitment reinforces the dynamics of South-South cooperation and reflects Morocco’s vision of sharing expertise for an integrated and sustainable continental development.
This participation comes at a crucial moment, as Africa faces increasing climate challenges that call for collective mobilization and urgent investment in innovative agricultural solutions that place climate-smart approaches at the heart of development strategies.
ADA’s dynamic presence in this forum reflects Morocco’s leadership in climate and sustainable agriculture issues, and consolidates its status as a continental and global reference country, committed to supporting its partners in the transition towards more resilient and equitable agricultural systems.
