Liberia’s Minister of Agriculture Praises Morocco’s water resources management capacity
Liberia’s Minister of Agriculture, Alexander Nuetah, emphasized, on Wednesday in Meknes, Morocco’s water resources management capacity, calling it a “remarkable” example for countries facing water stress.
Speaking to the press following a bilateral meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, on the sidelines of the 17th International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM), the Liberian official stated that the Kingdom “managed to modernize its agriculture while increasing its productivity, despite water scarcity,” thanks to advanced irrigation techniques and the integration of new technologies.
Morocco has succeeded in making rational water management a strategic lever for food security, he added, noting that his country is “ready to benefit from the Moroccan experience.” Nuetah said he was particularly impressed by the diversity of the livestock exhibited at SIAM, but also by the performances in terms of dairy and beef production, while praising the Kingdom’s organizational capacities.
He added that “Morocco stands out for its progress in agricultural mechanization and the use of new technologies to optimize agricultural production.” Organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this year’s SIAM, attended by 1,500 exhibitors from 70 countries, is held under the theme: “Agriculture and the Rural World: Water at the Heart of Sustainable Development.
