Crown Prince Inaugurates the 17th Edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco
Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presided, on Monday, April 21, over the opening ceremony of the 17th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM), held at the Sahrij Souani esplanade in the imperial city of Meknes. The event is organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and will run from April 21 to 27, under the theme: “Agriculture and the Rural World: Water at the Heart of Sustainable Development.”
The Crown Prince’s inauguration of this event is yet another expression of the High Solicitude that His Majesty King Mohammed VI consistently grants to the agricultural sector. It also reflects the Kingdom’s profound commitment, under the Sovereign’s leadership, to addressing key global priorities such as food security, sustainable development, and combating climate change.
Upon his arrival at the exhibition, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard who rendered honors. He was then greeted by Mr. Ahmed Bouari, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests; the Wali of the Fès-Meknès region; the President of the Fès-Meknès Regional Council; the Governor of the Meknes prefecture; the President of the Meknes Prefectural Council; the Mayor of Meknes; and the President of the Mechouar Stinia commune.
Also greeting the Crown Prince were the President of the Fès-Meknès Regional Chamber of Agriculture; the Pasha of Mechouar Stinia; the President and members of SIAM’s Board of Directors and its sponsors; the President of the Federation of Agricultural Chambers; the President of the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development; and the acting General Commissioner of SIAM.
At the entrance to the International Agricultural Exhibition of Morocco, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan was welcomed by Benjamin Haddad, the French Minister Delegate for Foreign and European Affairs, whose country is the guest of honor at this year’s edition. He also met with representatives of invited foreign countries (Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Eswatini, Iraq, Liberia, Malawi, Uganda, Palestine, São Tomé and Príncipe, and South Sudan), as well as development partners including the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, and the World Water Council.
Following this, the Crown Prince visited the “Regions” pavilion, after which a commemorative photo was taken with the Presidents of Regional Councils. He also toured the “Water and Irrigation” and “Research and Innovation” pavilions within the Ministry’s area, as well as the pavilion of the OCP Group. His tour continued through the “Sponsors,” “Institutions,” “Agri-food Industries,” “International,” “Digital Agriculture,” “Nature and Environment,” “Machinery,” “Local Products,” “Livestock Inputs,” and “Animal Breeding” zones.
Held at the Sahrij Souani square, the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco spans 12.4 hectares and sees the participation of 70 countries, with France being the guest of honor. This choice reflects the strong bilateral relations and the dynamic cooperation between the two nations.
This 17th edition features more than 1,500 exhibitors and includes a rich program of scientific conferences and roundtables aimed at exchanging expertise and exploring concrete avenues to advance a more sustainable agriculture that can address climate challenges, maintain the balance of the agricultural ecosystem, and ensure long-term food sovereignty for the country.
SIAM 2025 offers visitors a wide array of products and next-generation agricultural machinery, aiming to boost agricultural and livestock production and enhance key regional economic sectors, including the agri-food industry. Over the years, the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco has succeeded in establishing itself as an unmissable event for the agricultural sector in Africa, and a prominent platform for meetings and partnership opportunities among the various actors of the ecosystem.
