The “Niyoura” Project Awarded Agricultural Aggregation Certification at SIAM Meknes: A Testament to the Success of Economic Empowerment in Rural Areas
As part of the 16th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM 2025), the pavilion of the Béni Mellal – Khénifra region hosted a special ceremony dedicated to awarding the Agricultural Aggregation Certification to a pioneering project focused on the red pepper (niyoura) value chain.
The ceremony was organized by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Béni Mellal – Khénifra, in partnership with the Regional Council and with the active participation of the Agricultural Development Agency (ADA). The event recognized the tremendous efforts made by the “Haidach” agricultural cooperative in organizing and aggregating small-scale farmers within a successful structural project.
This significant project involves 13 aggregated farmers over a total area of 165 hectares. It stands as a promising model for agricultural aggregation policies launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, under the framework of the “Green Generation 2020–2030” strategy.
This achievement crowns a journey of commitment and mobilization, highlighting the effectiveness of the agricultural aggregation system in enhancing the competitiveness of value chains and promoting local products—particularly in the red pepper sector, which is abundant in the Béni Mellal – Khénifra region and serves as a vital economic resource for many cooperatives and farmers.
During the event, the Agricultural Development Agency emphasized the importance of aggregation as an innovative mechanism that enables small-scale farmers to access modern technologies, improve productivity, and connect to markets, in addition to encouraging collective initiatives that foster economic empowerment in rural areas.
This project clearly reflects the success of the participatory approach adopted by various regional and sectoral institutions to support farmers and provide them with the necessary tools and resources to achieve sustainable agriculture capable of addressing climate and economic challenges.
As the International Agricultural Exhibition continues in the imperial city of Meknes—held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him—initiatives such as this one stand as living proof of the dynamic evolution of Morocco’s agricultural sector and its ongoing efforts to meet the challenges of food sovereignty and integrated rural development.
The exhibition runs until April 27 and features 1,500 exhibitors representing 70 countries, under the theme: “Agriculture and Rural World: Water at the Heart of Sustainable Development.”
This major event, a key milestone in agricultural policy, is a vital platform for strengthening exchanges, consolidating international partnerships, and showcasing practical solutions to the challenges facing the agricultural sector.
